Juan Bautista Porcar Ripolles

Juan Bautista Porcar Ripolles (1888 - 1974) was active/lived in Spain.  Juan Ripolles is known for Landscape, figure, portrait and genre painting.

Trained with Vicente Castell, in 1906, Juan Bautista Porcar Ripolles traveled to Valencia thanks to a scholarship, and entered the San Carlos School of Fine Arts. Four years later he settled in Barcelona, where he studied at the La Lonja School.

After finishing his studies, in 1915 he returned to Castellón, where he founded the Ribalta Group, focused on natural landscape painting. A regular at the Círculo Artístico de Sant Lluc in Barcelona, he made his solo debut at the La Pinacoteca gallery in 1918, where he has continued to exhibit frequently since then.

He participated in the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition, as well as in international competitions in Venice, Oslo, Buenos Aires and Paris. In 1954 he obtained the first medal at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts, an award that was his definitive recognition.
